On 3rd November, Barrie was honoured to receive the Inspirational Person of the Year Award at the Merseyside Impact Awards. Barrie said,
“I am absolutely delighted to receive this award. My name may be on it, but it also recognises the hard work of all the people who make Box4Kids what it is – the very generous companies who donate their executive boxes, the hardworking doctors and nurses in the hospitals we support, the selfless hosts who give up their time, and of course the wonderful staff at Box4Kids who organise these days and make them so special for these deserving children.”
The Inspirational Person of the Year Award gives the recipient special recognition for “all they have achieved and contributed as well as being a true asset, inspiration and role model within Merseyside.”
The event, which was hosted by Phoenix Nights star Neil Fitzmaurice at The Venue in Huyton, brought together a huge number of businesses and individuals who have all gone the extra mile for those in the Merseyside community. As Box4Kids started at Anfield, Barrie is tremendously proud that Box4Kids has been recognised as making a difference to seriously ill and disabled children in the Merseyside area.
Since Box4Kids began in 2010, over 1,800 guests from Merseyside, including those from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Claire House, have attended Box4Kids events. Nationally, Box4Kids has given over 5,500 extremely deserving guests VIP opportunities in some of the best sporting and entertainment venues in the UK, and Barrie looks forward to giving them many more!
